Table joins, dining durations, pacing, walk-in holds and the waitlist: how OmniDine fills seats that first-come seating leaves empty.

5 min readUpdated 21 October 2026

Two couples on six-tops, a gap between bookings too short to sell, and a cancellation nobody hears about: small leaks like these add up over a week. OmniDine has a setting for each.

  • Party-size limits per table, so big tables aren't given to couples.
  • Permitted table joins, so large parties can still be seated.
  • Automatic allocation that minimises unused seats across current bookings, then reduces moves and joins while respecting staff locks.
  • Staff locks, to keep a regular on their favourite table without turning allocation off.
  • Dining durations by party size, so tables turn at the right pace.
  • Arrival pacing, so the kitchen isn't hit by every table at 7:30.
  • Walk-in holds and daily online caps, to protect bar and walk-in trade.
  • Next available dates and the public waitlist, so full dates still turn into bookings.
